The Fragrance of Dharma Flower Comes Again: Yangjin’s First Spiritual Concert After Settling in Chiang Mai

In February 2023, Yangjin Lamu held a spiritual concert “Dharma Flower”, her first local concert after settling in Chiang Mai.

This small concert full of Chiang Mai vibe originated from Yangjin and Mark’s good friend Peggy Dulany and her Global Philanthropists Circle of Synergos. Having learned that Yangjin and Mark had moved to Chiang Mai, Peggy, who hadn’t seen the couple for many years, decided to hold this year’s GPC Conference in Chiang Mai. During the three-day conference, Yangjin and Mark, as members of the GPC for many years, received more than a dozen philanthropists from all over the world.

Yangjin specially invited the local traditional Lanna music band that she met in Chiang Mai 18 years ago, and with whom she created the album “Dharma Flower”. Over the past 18 years, Yangjin has maintained a good friendship with the leading musician of the band, Visanthat Ratanamongkolkasem (nickname: Boy) and they have collaborated multiple times on spiritual concerts. Now, they teamed up again and presented a warm and floral concert together.

Yangjin and the Lanna music band created music together in Chiang Mai in 2005.

In addition to members of the GPC, new friends and neighbors from all over the world that the Yangjin and Mark met in Chiang Mai also participated in the concert. Chiang Mai is such a magical place, where one can easily meet people from different backgrounds in Europe, Asia, the Americas, etc., and quickly become friends.

Chiang Mai belonged to the Kingdom of Lanna in ancient times, and was a place with beautiful environment and abundant energy. Yangjin said, the Lanna Kingdom was extraordinary. It was open, firm, tender and open-minded, like a mother, accepting people from all over the world to live here. “I used to look for a home all over the world, and now I finally found it. Chiang Mai is a place that you don’t want to leave once you are here”, Yangjin said.

A Long-last Friendship of Dharma Flower in Chiang Mai For 18 Years

Speaking of Chiang Mai, there was the story of Yangjin recording her second album “Dharma Flower” in Chiang Mai 18 years ago.

In 2005, through the introduction of sound engineer Shen Shengde, Yangjin met Visanthat Ratanamongkolkasem (nickname: Boy), the last successor of Thai traditional Lanna music and his band.

Yangjin met Boy and his band for the first time in Chiang Mai 18 years ago.

Based on a common understanding of music and a tacit understanding of the soul, the collaboration between Yangjin and the band was very pleasant. They made friends through songs and got along like family members. In just one week of interaction, they kindled many sparks of inspiration in music.

Although there was a language barrier, they had no barriers in music communication, and the music fully recorded the spiritual touch at that time.

The title of the album originated from Yangjin’s wonderful experience of encountering sala flowers in Chiang Mai at that time.
